In a college sport that has been dominated by only two schools since its conception, the Central Michigan wrestling team is trying to break the mold as they compete for a top three spot in the NCAA Tournament. In the tradition of training outside the box, CMU’s head coach Tom Borrelli demands that wrestlers wake up at 5:30, when other coeds are just dozing off, for strenuous track workouts. This workout not only improves stamina but prepares wrestlers for the early wake ups that wrestling tournaments demand.

“Hey, y’all. My name’s Dallas Robinson. I’m really nobody. I’m a 6-foot-4, 210-pound white guy that lives in Kentucky. I train myself. A lot like everybody else, when I got out of college, I went and started working. For a year, I was miserable. I wasn’t doing what the Lord created me to do, and that’s run.” So begins this mini-documentary on the training and progress of Dallas Robinson, a little known sprinter who turned heads last year with some truly quick times. Among the training techniques showcased in this video, Dallas does some treadmill overspeed work, the goal of which is to teach the body to run at faster than naturally achievable speed.
